We help patients across El Paso manage type 1, type 2 and pre-diabetes, from first diagnosis through daily management.
A growing issue in our community
Diabetes is an incredibly common problem in El Paso, with nearly 100,000 residents affected and thousands more unaware that they may have it. At Transmountain Primary Care, we understand the financial, physical and mental burden that often comes with diabetes.
Our staff has the equipment, knowledge and experience to help you and your loved ones manage it. Since the late 20th century diabetes has been an ever-growing issue, and today over 30 million Americans are confirmed to have it. As diabetes has evolved, so have the knowledge and technologies used to fight it.

We treat all three types of diabetes
We help with type 1, type 2 and pre-diabetes, as well as patients at higher risk. We also work with patients experiencing complications, and offer diabetes management plans.
Type 1 diabetes
The less common but more complex of the two types, characterized by a pancreas that cannot produce insulin at all. A diagnosis is no reason to panic. Our physicians have proven techniques for helping people live with the condition.

Type 2 diabetes
By far the most prevalent type. Roughly 90 to 95 percent of people with diabetes have type 2, and advances in medicine have steadily improved how we address its effects.

Ways to prevent diabetes
Generally, the keys to prevention lie in diet, exercise and monitoring. These three areas are central to preventing diabetes and the ailments associated with it.
Diet
A good diet is highly individual and is best created with a dietician or doctor. In general, experts agree on avoiding junk food and fast food, avoiding added sugar, avoiding simple grains, keeping carbohydrate intake moderate, and eating lean meats.
Exercise
You do not need to become a bodybuilder. Regular walks, jogs or other light exercise can help, and can make your body more insulin-sensitive over time. If you already have diabetes, check your blood sugar and adjust accordingly.
Monitoring
Prevention is far easier when you know what to look for. Regular monitoring, with your physician, catches changes early enough to act on them.
You can fight back against diabetes
For most, diabetes is a chronic condition that can lead to other health issues, but it can be fought with proper guidance and management. Our team is always available to help patients with type 1 or type 2 better manage their diabetes and take control of their lives.
